Wildflower tourist

The schools have broken up, the camping stuff is dusted off, it's time for the annual summer holiday. Maybe you have a stack of books to tackle while lazing on the beach, maybe you've got your eye on a mountain to conquer, or maybe you're a wildflower tourist.

There are thousands of visitors to wildflower hotspots across the globe every year. Some well recognised areas include Lesueur National Park in western Australia, where over 900 species of flora delight audiences. Or, the Wild Flower Route on the Northern Cape of South Africa, a tour through 3,500 species and a series of national parks.

Closer to home, the Slovenian International Wildflower Festival attracts visitors to celebrate the carpeted mountain slopes of the Bohinj valley in May and June each year.

Do wildflowers feature on your travel plans this year? Perhaps they are an added bonus on your break. Let us know and send us your favourite wildflower holiday snaps via Twitter, Instagram or email! Alternatively tag your photos with #wildflowerwarrior to let us know you're on watch for wildflowers!
